"Owners praise its speed, comfort and attractive design, with plenty appreciating the instant acceleration and charging ease. However, concerns centre on wheel and tyre wear, some impracticalities for taller passengers, and technology that feels outdated for the segment. Value for money and efficiency receive mixed reactions. Overall, the EQC Mk1 stands out for its performance but shows clear room for everyday improvements."

The performance and charging overnight so always full.
More headroom when getting in the car.
An excellent car that does what it says on the tin.

It’s faster than anything in its class with an internal combustion engine, relatively practical, and — in my view — the best-looking premium EV you can buy.
The weight — and all the problems it causes for the wheels and tyres — is unquestionably the worst thing about the EQC. This vehicle has gone through several sets of tyres despite being driven carefully, purely because the weight accelerates tyre wear. It has also been extremely prone to vibrations caused by wheel damage, which is improbably easy — whether that’s buckling the wheel itself or the tracking being thrown out. The tyres are also very sensitive to punctures from poor road surfaces, which is an acute issue in the UK. Tyres have been the single greatest expense — and wheels and tyres combined have been the most significant source of frustration during my ownership. It feels as though they haven’t been properly rated for the car. There are a few other niggles: when you lower the window, the interior door card sits above the exterior door skin, which looks horrible and unresolved. Apple CarPlay only works via a cable, which seems hopelessly antiquated — especially as Mercedes positions itself as a tech pioneer. The Piano Black dash and centre console are also extremely vulnerable to scratching. The range is fairly average and the value depreciation is absolutely terrifying, but by no means the worst thing about this car.
It’s pretty, reasonably sized (though a little cramped in the back if the front-seat occupants are tall), and very comfortable to drive. But the constant wheel and tyre issues — along with some lazy design shortcomings — detract from an otherwise workable EV.
