Its a big solid tourer that hums along on French and Italian motorways. It is very well equipped technically for a 12 year old car and there have been no major issues (apart from the sensor that tripped following a visit to a large pothole). The car has served 6 years of university runs (Glasgow and Lancaster) and is just part of the family.
Obviously the car was affected by dieselgate and the LEZs in London - so would look for a petrol/electric hybrid (not possible for the 2013 range).
The 2013 Passats are very underrated but are real work horses, comfortable to drive and perfect for a family with growing or grown up children. The fact that the car still has a vlaue of £4,000-£5000 is excellent in an age of rapid depreciation.
